The 13th Annual TGC Fund Clambake will take place Saturday, August 10th, 2024

The Thomas G. Cavanagh Memorial Fund (TGC Fund) was created in June 2011.

Tom Cavanagh lived a good and healthy life. Yet as he approached his mid-twenties, he developed a severe mental illness that worsened and intensified for three years before ultimately taking his life in January 2011. The TGC Fund was established by his family and friends in Tom’s memory to help those suffering from mental illness.

Please explore our site to learn more about Tom's life, our annual event, and other initiatives.

Tom Cavanagh Story

“If you did press Tom to talk about himself, he probably wouldn’t talk about hockey, but instead you’d probably hear about what mattered most in Tom’s life – his large, and loving family.” —Dan Curran

Annual Event

Each year, the TGC Fund’s main fundraising effort is held near the ocean in Rhode Island, not far from where Tom grew up and loved to spend his time. The event features a small hockey tournament followed by a clambake at Kempenaar’s Clambake Club in Middletown, RI. The clambake brings together people in the community to celebrate Tom’s life and raise awareness and funds for those suffering from mental illness. Guests enjoy music, a lobster dinner and an awesome prize raffle. Check out our event page to learn more, including how to support or attend it.
