The 5th Annual Thomas G. Cavanagh Memorial Clambake & Hockey Jamboree
The 5th Annual TGC Fund Hockey Jamboree and Clambake took place on August 8, 2015.
Early in the day, over 50 players took part in the hockey Jamboree at URI’s Boss Ice Arena. The tournament consisted of 4 teams captained by Tom’s brothers. Each player was assigned to a team through an entry draft that took place two days before the tournament. Team Dave bested Team Joe in the finals of the tournament. Many of this year’s participants were friends and teammates of Tom. Current NHL players participated as well as dozens of former professional and college hockey players.
The clambake took place later in the afternoon at Kempenaar’s Clambake Club in Middletown, RI. Over 250 people attended the party. The TGC Fund is proud to announce that this year’s event raised over $40,000.
TGC Fund President and co-founder Paul Cavanagh announced a new partnership with the Interfaith Counseling Center of Rhode Island. Paul explained that the purpose of this partnership is to ensure that each dollar raised makes a direct impact in aiding those suffering from mental illness. Christine King, director of the ICC, spoke to explain the mission of the organization. Christine noted that the ICC and TGC Fund share a common goal of helping those suffering from mental illness, particularly those who cannot afford treatment.
